Pennsylvania Farm Show Offers State's Best

The 2011 Pennsylvania Farm Show, Saturday, Jan. 8 through Saturday, Jan. 15, shows off the best of Pennsylvania’s top industry – agriculture.

The 95th show will offer new family living classes, horse-pulling contests, educational seminars, a youth talent show,  and country music singer, Glen Shelton.

Other annual favorites include butter sculpture, a sheep-to-shawl contest, farm show detectives, the popular celebrity cow milking contest, plus an extensive food court that offers the best Pennsylvania-produced products.

Meet Folly At H.O.R.S.E Christmas Open House

Folly is a 27-year-old Welsh pony that "stands 13.1 hands high, and 'loves to go for walks and is good on a lead line with a child up.' Folly would also make an excellent companion pony."

Meet Folly and the other adoptable horses on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the annual H.O.R.S.E. Christmas Open House, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 43 Wilbur Rd., Washington, Connecticut.

The Humane Organization Representing Suffering Equines (H.O.R.S.E.) of Connecticut, Inc., is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and neglected horses. H.O.R.S.E. was established in 1982 and moved to its permanent home in 1995. It is still staffed by a team of volunteers.

All donations go directly to the horses. After horses have been returned to good physical and mental health, they are placed in new homes if possible. Sponsorships are also available.
