Educational offerings this winter include small engine principles and operations, which include working on your own engine or equipment in the class at the new Middletown Agriculture and Technology Center.
The Agricultural Mechanics-Small Engine Repair course is in progress and covers small engine principles of operation, troubleshooting, compression and ignition-testing, carburetion and preventive. A general overview of compact diesel engines and repair of equipment begins with a 30-minute presentation followed by working on your own equipment that needs repair or maintenance.
A total disassembly, reconditioning and assembly can be performed.
Limited enrollment of 15 students.

Jan. 25, Equine Liability and Insurance, a joint presentation by Doug Dubitsky, attorney specializing in equine law, and Ronald Hocutt, equine insurance specialist. Strategies will cover developing an equine risk and liability management plan and lowering your equine risk and exposure.
Feb. 1, Basic Dog Obedience, with Nichole Gretta, assistant manager, PetSense in Westbrook. Enrollment will be limited. Dogs must provide proof of current vaccinations, including rabies and bordatella. Contact Amanda Thomson at thomsona@mps1.org to bring your dog.
Feb. 8, Animal First Aid, Amanda Thomson, animal science instructor at the Middletown Regional Agricultural Science and Technology Center. Hands-on program based on the Red Cross dog and cat first aid course. Equine first aid will be addressed as well.
