The Connecticut Farmland Trust (CFT) has named Jim Gooch as executive director. Gooch comes to CFT from the Portland, Maine, office of The Trust for Public Land where as program director he was instrumental in funding new conservation projects and building diverse partnerships.
“We are looking forward to working with Jim as he helps move the trust to its next level,” says Nick Moore, president of CFT board of directors. A Connecticut native, Gooch holds a degree from Yale Law School and now lives in Meriden.
As executive director Gooch will be the senior manager responsible for the trust’s operations and relations with partner organizations, as well as donor cultivation and fundraising.
“Protecting the land that produces the food we eat has never been more important,” said Gooch. “CFT has been leading the way in Connecticut and I’m very proud to join them.”
Founded in 2002, the Connecticut Farmland Trust is the only private statewide conservation organization that protects Connecticut’s working lands. To date it holds easements on 28 properties across the state. To learn more about the Trust visit www.ctfarmland.org
