CT Sheep, Wool And Fiber Festival

The 102nd Annual Connecticut Sheep, Wool & Fiber Festival is Saturday, April 30, rain or shine, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tolland Agricultural Center, Route 30, Vernon/Rockville.

Yarn, roving, sheep, exhibits, shearing and spinning demonstrations. Fleece sale, educational lectures; wool skirting, sheep dog trial, fleece to shawl contest, kids’ corner, knitting instruction, food, vendors, festival logo shirts, music, family fun. Kevin Woolam and Cathy Andresen co-chair the annual event.

Needle-felted Animals, Artists, Knitting

The Branford Artists Cooperative Open House is Friday, Dec. 17, 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday Dec. 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, showcases the work of three artists.

Owen Sea Luckey, Branford textile artist, pushes the boundaries of knitting and sewing with textures and embellishments on scarves and recycled garments

Laura Lyons raises sheep on her farm in Madison and washes, picks, cards, dyes and spins the wool to create needle-felted animals and wall pieces.

Kristin Merrill combines natural materials with sterling silver and semi-precious stone for jewelry and mixed media sculpture.
